• Business Environment
  • This course will develop students’ understanding of the national and global business environment and the internal and external circumstances in which different organisations operate.
• People in Organisations
  • This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of those aspects of organisations that concern and support people. This includes communication practices, teamwork, remote working and other organisational structures.
• Communication Skills for Business
  • This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the communication practices within organisations and students are introduced to the different modes and channels of communication used in organisations.
• Administrative Services
  • Students will be able to develop knowledge and understanding of the range of administrative services that might be offered to managers or departments within organisations.
• Resource Management
  • The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the human and physical resources needed in a range of organisations, including those in the primary, service and manufacturing sectors.
• Managing a Work-Based Team Project
  • This course aims to develop project management skills for a work-based team project by implementing the different stages of project development, implementation and review.
• Customer Relationship Management
  • Students will be able to develop knowledge and understanding of the scope and importance of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and to explore how effective CRM is achieved.
• Financial and Management Accounting Techniques for Managers
  • To develop a knowledge and understanding of fundamental financial and management accounting techniques that are used by managers in organisations and to develop skills enabling students to apply these techniques.

Course Descriptions:

• Business Organisations in a Global Context
  • This course examines the principles and practice of corporate governance. It investigates the role governance plays in ensuring that a company’s business operations are compliant with accepted governance principles and the relevant Codes of Practice.
• Managing Communication
  • This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of communication within and between organisations. Students will also review their own communication skills in an organisational context.
• People Management
  • This course will enable students to understand how to manage individuals and teams. They will study organisational factors and how these impact on and influence individual and team behaviour, as well as learning management tools and techniques to help them effectively manage individuals and teams.
• Marketing Principles & Practice
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of general marketing principles and their application in business.
• Planning a New Business Venture
  • This course will develop knowledge and understanding of new business ventures and skills associated with planning a venture. By studying this unit, students will develop an understanding of business types and the factors that determine the success or otherwise of a new business venture. They will also learn how to determine the market potential of a new business and develop an associated business plan.
• Business Ethics
  • This course will enable the student to develop knowledge and understanding of business ethics and the effects ethics can have on organisations, including planning and the management of their goals and activities.
• Finance for Managers
  • The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and understanding of the sources and use of finance in organisations and how to evaluate and interpret financial data.
• Research Project (Level 5)
  • The aim of this course is to develop the skills required for the student to formulate an appropriate research question and to design and undertake a research project to answer that research question. The student will also need to interpret the outcomes of their research and present them to an audience.

• Factors Determining Marketing Strategies
  • This course enables students to understand the influences on marketing strategy and the characteristics and use of marketing intelligence. It also involves the underpinning principles of strategic marketing analysis, strategic choice and stakeholder engagement.

  • This course enables students to understand the principles, practice and components of integrated marketing communications and how they are used to optimize marketing messages, including the use of digital media. Students will be able to develop an integrated marketing communications plan.

  • To enable students to examine the use of information systems within organisations. The students will develop knowledge and understanding of the contribution information systems make to the development and management of organisations.

  • The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to manage change within an organisation. Students will develop an understanding of the need for managing change and the different models that can be used to support this process.

  • The aim of this course is to help students develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of managing risks in business organisations and enable them to develop an effective risk management plan.
